Privacy Policy

LegalLast updated June 7, 2026

This policy explains how QRaise handles information, in the Android app, the web version at qraise.binaref.com, and the Windows and Linux apps. QRaise is a QR code generator and scanner with an optional Pro account, a credits wallet, ads, and in-app purchases. The core features, creating and scanning QR codes, work without an account, and codes you scan are decoded on your own device.

01Information we collect

We do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, or photos for our own use. The camera works on-device only: what it reads is not sent to us.

  • Email address, only if you add a recovery email to a Pro account (for password reset).
  • Account & organization info, organization name, member names, and a hashed password when you create or join a Pro account.
  • Device identifier, a generated code linking your device to your account and codes.
  • QR codes you create, personal codes stay on your device; codes created inside a Pro account are stored on our servers.
  • Codes you scan, kept on your device only. A code that was not created in QRaise is decoded locally and never reaches our servers.
  • Scan records of tracked codes, see the next section.
  • Purchases, processed by Google Play; we store the resulting credit balance and ad-free status.
  • Advertising identifier & usage, collected by Google AdMob to serve and measure ads.

02Scanning and tracked codes

A tracked code is a Pro feature: its owner creates it in order to measure how often it is scanned. This section explains what that means for whoever scans one.

When a tracked code created in QRaise is scanned, we record:

This applies to anyone who scans such a code, whether or not they use QRaise.

We do not use GPS or device location for this. The location is approximate, at city level, and inferred from the network address, the same information any website receives when you visit it. QRaise only requests device location when you deliberately create a "location" QR code from your own coordinates, and that stays in the code you made.

The owner of the code sees counts, times and approximate locations. They do not see your name, your phone number, or any way to identify you personally.

Codes that were not created in QRaise are never tracked by us. Scanning one in QRaise sends nothing to our servers, if that code belongs to another service, that service, not QRaise, sees the visit.

  • The IP address of the request, and an approximate location, country and city, derived from it.
  • The device type and browser, and whether the request came through a VPN or proxy.
  • The date and time, and an identifier stored on the scanning device so repeat scans can be told apart.

03How we use it

  • Provide the core features: generating, scanning, and managing QR codes.
  • Operate optional Pro accounts: login, tracked codes, members, analytics, and wallet.
  • Give the owner of a tracked code the statistics they created it for.
  • Process in-app purchases and apply credits or ad-free status.
  • Send password-reset codes to your recovery email.
  • Display ads to keep the app free, and protect the service from abuse.

04Third-party services

  • Google AdMob, advertising.
  • Google Play Billing, in-app purchases.
  • Supabase, secure backend and database for Pro accounts and tracked codes.
  • ipinfo.io, converts an IP address into an approximate country and city when a tracked code is scanned. It receives the IP address for that lookup.
  • Cloudflare, hosts our website and delivers the pages that tracked codes open.

05Advertising

QRaise shows ads through Google AdMob (banner and rewarded ads). AdMob may collect a device advertising identifier and limited usage data to serve and measure ads. Where required, we ask for your consent first through Google's consent tool, and you can change that choice later in the app. You can also opt out of ad personalization in your device settings (Google → Ads), or remove ads entirely by purchasing the Remove Ads option.

06Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared only as needed: with Google AdMob (advertising identifier), Google Play (purchases), Supabase (Pro account data and scan records), and ipinfo.io (IP address, to resolve an approximate location), or when required by law.

07Retention & deletion

You can delete your account and associated data from within the app, or contact us to request deletion. Local data, such as on-device scan history, is removed when you clear it or uninstall the app.

For accounts with an active subscription, we keep your codes and their statistics for as long as the subscription runs.

For accounts without a subscription:

  • A code that has not been scanned for 3 months is removed, counted from its last scan.
  • An account with no sign-in for 12 months is deleted after we notify the recovery email on file.
  • Detailed scan records are kept for 12 months, then reduced to totals; the totals stay with the code.

08Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your QRaise account and its data at any time. An account is optional, creating and scanning QR codes work without one.

In the app: open QRaise Pro, sign in, open the account Settings, choose Delete account and confirm.

By email: send a request from the email linked to your account (or include your account code) to [email protected] with the subject "Delete my QRaise account". We verify ownership and complete the deletion within 30 days.

  • Deleted: your account and profile (organization name, members, recovery email and hashed password), tracked QR codes and their scan records, your credit wallet and its transactions, and in-account notifications.
  • On your device: local data such as scan history is removed when you clear it or uninstall the app.
  • May be retained: purchase and transaction records required by law, for accounting or to prevent fraud, only for the required period, and never used to identify you for any other purpose.

09Security

All network communication uses encryption in transit (HTTPS). Account passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Database access is protected by row-level security, and account creation, password attempts and verification emails are rate-limited to protect you from abuse.

10Permissions

Camera to scan QR codes (on-device). Photos / Storage to pick or save QR images you choose. Contacts only when you build or save a contact QR code. Location only when you choose to put your own coordinates into a location QR code, never in the background. Display over other apps and Screen capture only while you use "read from screen", and only for the frame you select. Internet for accounts, purchases, and ads.

11Children's privacy

QRaise is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
